Boks suffer injury after 'insult'
MEDICAL UPDATE: Having suffered the humiliation of a first-ever loss to Wales on South African soil, the Springboks have lost one of their key players.
Seasoned centre Andre Esterhuizen has been ruled out of the decisive third Test in Cape Town on Saturday, after fracturing his hand in the 12-13 loss to the Welsh in Bloemfontein this past weekend.
Bok forwards coach Deon Davids provided the injury update at the national team’s regular Monday media briefing.
Davids said Esterhuizen is the only ‘serious’ injury, although there is no doubt some seriously bruised egos.
“It’s always awful to lose a match in the Springbok jersey,” said Davids.
“Every time we play, we want to win.
“This Saturday is a final for us and we will select the best team that can achieve the results we would like this weekend.”
