Wales want BaaBaas revenge

One of the most famous representative teams in world rugby is to challenge Wales at the Millennium Stadium for the second time in a year.

The Barbarians will face Warren Gatland’s team in Cardiff on June 2 when Wales will be all out to avenge their 28-31 defeat in the same fixture last year.

This year the Barbarians game will take place shortly before Wales set off for their mid-year tour of Australia.

Wales will be wary of the opposition which is renowned for attracting some of the legends of the global game.

In the 2011 encounter the Italian No.8 Sergio Parisse earned the Man of the Match award after a typically barnstorming display.

He was the latest in a string of legendary players to create rugby history in the black and white Barbarians jersey.

In 2011 the encounter was to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the formation of the Welsh Rugby Union.

The June home fixture for Wales is now becoming a staple of the Wales rugby sporting calendar with a growing following of supporters enticed by the prospect of mid-year rugby in the capital.

The Barbarians is a representative team without an official home ground and since their first game in 1890 they have played around the world.

The BaaBaa’s have even notched up some notable victories including wins against the likes of South Africa and New Zealand.

For the 2012 encounter against Wales the Barbarians are again expected to attract a star studded line-up set to thrill the crowd.

The Barbarians have now played against Wales eight times notching up six wins and losing twice.
