Bok power for Bulls U21

Springbok centre Jan Serfontein will start for the Blue Bulls Under-21 side in their semifinal against the Sharks at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

With the senior team having failed to qualify for the Currie Cup semifinals, Bulls U21 coach Nollis Marais has been able to call on Serfontein, flyhalf Handrè Pollard, flank Jacques du Plessis and lock Paul Willemse.

They will join the likes of William Small-Smith, Travis Ismaiel, Tony Jantjies, Jaco Visagie and Wiaan Liebenberg as players who have donned both the Currie Cup and U21 jerseys this season.

Liebenberg, Small-Smith, Serfontein, Ismaiel, Willemse, Jantjies and Pollard were all members of the champion Junior Springboks team that won the 2012 Junior World Championship on home soil.

Du Plessis, Irne Herbst, Dries Swanepoel and Dennis Visser played for the team in 2013, with Ruan Steenkamp captaining the side in France at the JWC this year.

The Blue Bulls U21 team finished second on the competition log to earn the home berth for the semifinals, whilst the Sharks finished third on the log.
