Bulls claim another King

The Blue Bulls have further bolstered their ranks with the signing of Kings loose forward Jacques Engelbrecht who joins them on a three-year deal.

The hard-working Engelbrecht impressed for the Kings in their debut Super Rugby season this year, and he joins teammate Waylon Murray in heading to Loftus Versveld following the Eastern Cape side's relegation from Super Rugby.

The Bulls confirmed on Tuesday that Bok centre Murray has signed a two-year deal and will be available for their Currie Cup opener against Western Province at Newlands this weekend.

Confirming his immediate availability, Blue Bulls High Performance Manager Xander Janse van Rensburg said: "We have just received the clearance, so can now officially announce the signing. Waylon is a highly rated player with heaps of experience at especially Super Rugby and Currie Cup level. He will add experience to our back division as well as a cool head."

At least four Kings were rumoured to be in negotiations with the Bulls last week, with Engelbrecht and Murray the only two to confirm their moves thus far.

This follows an exodus from Pretoria, with eight Springbok players leaving the Bulls at the end of their Super Rugby campaign.

Engelbrecht confirmed the news via Twitter on Tuesday.

"Proud to announce my 3 year signing with the Blue Bulls! What an absolute honour! #alltheglorytoGod," he tweeted.

The signing of the physical forward will go some way to filling the gap left by Jacques and Dewald Potgieter who have both left the Bulls to play in Japan.
