Coaches reunion at Biarritz

Experienced coach Didier Faugeron was reunited with Biarritz legend Laurent Rodriguez on Monday when he was named backs coach of the out of form Top 14 giants.

Faugeron, 50 and formerly coach of Stade Francais and Bayonne among others, replaces Australian Jack Isaac, who along with scrum coach Serge Milhas was suspended from his duties last week after an alarming slump in form.

Faugeron previously worked with Rodriguez, who is the Biarritz manager and who was joint coach when the club won the French title in 2002 at Brive in the 2005/06 campaign.

The club also announced that it would continue its search to find a scrum coach as replacement for Milhas.

Biarritz began the Top 14 season brightly, winning their first four matches before going on a six-game losing streak and despite winning their last two to lie seventh in the standings it was not enough to save the duo.

Faugeron's first game in charge alongside Rodriguez will be this weekend's tough away game at Stade Francais.
