Muir suffer at home

A traditional schoolboy fixture dating back many years took place this weekend between Muir and Graeme. Unfortunately, hosting Muir went down 29-10.

Graeme was narrowly 14-10 ahead at the break.

Graeme opened the scoreboard when a gap opened on the blindside to run in a converted try. This lead was not enjoyed for long by the visitors as some individual brilliance by fullback Ruben De Vos put the hosts on the board. De Vos kicked the conversion. De Vos put the hosts into the lead through a penalty. Just before the break Graeme’s forwards worked hard to give their backline go-forward ball and took the lead with a converted try.

The Graeme side showed a lot more composure during the second half which was the turning point and allowed them to dominate the half. They ran in three tries to which Muir had no reply. This was due to Muir's missing opportunities and poor decision making.

Ruben De Vos scored all Muir's points. Graeme scored five tries, two of which were converted.

Mention needs to be made of Mmelin Nkebe, Laduma Tshaka, Lonwabo Nxati, Malusi Sitatu, Lutho Njobe and Sibabalwe Jikana who worked well together in the forwards and laid a solid platform for their backs to work from.

Darren Wates, Jonathan Dos Santos and Leigh-Angus Nell used their opportunities during the season and ran their lines and angles well to cross the line numerous times.
