'We don't want to drag the union's name in the mud'
SPOTLIGHT: Scrumhalf Embrose Papier says it is time the Bulls’ players take more responsibility as they look to finish the season on a high note.
The Bulls have struggled on the field over the last couple of months.
They endured a 10-match losing streak in all competitions before their 40-3 win over Griquas in the Currie Cup last Friday.
Jake White’s side will now have an important United Rugby Championship clash against Zebre on Saturday at Ellis Park.
The Bulls are in seventh position in the table and will be looking to get maximum points ahead of their final-round clash against Leinster.
Before Saturday’s match, the Bulls will also have a tricky fixture against the Sharks at Kings Park in the Currie Cup on Friday.
“The Bulls are a big Union. There isn’t a single player here that wants to make mistakes or drag the union’s name in the mud,” said Papier.
“We are trying our best and we are working very hard.
“I think we as players need to take responsibility.
“We have a responsibility to go out every weekend and give 110 percent.
“I just think we need to work harder.”

With poor results comes pressure, but Papier has ways to stay positive.
“I have close friends and family, so they support me.
“They will always tell me the truth about how they feel.
“But as a player, I am working hard and that is helping me stay positive.
“I just hope to give my all every weekend to inspire others.”
Papier hopes his team can build on that win against Griquas when they face Zebre.
“Zebre are a team that enjoys loose play, so we will try and be consistent again with our kicking game and it is important that we win the set-piece battle.”
The Zebre match is part of a double-header at Ellis Park on Saturday. The Lions will face Leinster at the same venue later in the day.
