Halfpenny coy on French rumours

The mystery surrounding Leigh Halfpenny 's reported move to Toulon in France deepened on Thursday.

There was denial by Cardiff Blues Director of Rugby Phil Davies  and evasive talk by the player himself.

According to reports in the French media Halfpenny has already agreed to join the cash-flush club and European champions Toulon.

However, Davies insisted Halfpenny hasn't told Cardiff Blues he's leaving them.

"He's hasn't told me, Chief Executive Richard Holland or Chairman Peter Thomas," Davies told the website WalesOnline.

"I would be surprised if he has. He's still our player – he's not gone anywhere yet. We want to keep all our best players."

Halfpenny was coy when asked about his future playing plans.

"I'm just concentrating on playing for the Blues at the moment," said the recently-turned 25-year-old.

"We have got a massive few games coming up and my focus is firmly on going into the European Cup next week."

Ironically, it's holders Toulon who fullback Halfpenny and the Blues are facing in what could be a winner-takes-all shoot-out for a place in the quarterfinals.
