We answer your FAQs
It's been a week since the rugby365.com relaunch and we have since made a few tweaks to our website. We bring you an update and answer some FAQs too.
We have had plenty of feedback and have worked through every email and/or comment thus far.
Whilst the positive feedback has been heartening, and shows we are heading in the right direction, we have taken all the constructive criticism to heart.
WITH THAT IN MIND, HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS TO YOUR FAQs:
(1) I can't comment anymore!
Answer: We are now using the Disqus comments system on rugby365. It means you have to register in this new system, preferably by logging in with your Twitter, Facebook or webmail accounts. (See pictures above for more info – where to find the Disqus button, etc.)
Disqus is dedicated to building the best discussion experience for communities everywhere – keeping debate alive, but also ensuring that the forums are moderated easily and more effective.
(2) How do I register on Disqus without Twitter, Facebook or a webmail account?
Answer: Just click on the 'Disqus' logo and follow the prompts, to register. You may have to tweak your username slightly if it tells you it is already in use – i.e. put a full-stop or a digit behind the name you used previously (on the old rugby365). Please note that this does not give you a right to suddenly hide behind a pseudonym. Any bad comments will be removed and users blocked – whether you log in via a social network or email account or under a nickname.
(3) Where are the 'at-a-glance' fixtures and results on the front page?
Answer: The fixtures and results are now on the right-hand side in a specially customised tab box – with local and South African kick-off times. Once a game is finished, it will move to the results box with a full-time score. (Scroll through the pictures above for the exact placings of the right-hand fixtures/results/live scoring box.)
(4) Where are the live scores? What matches will be tracked?
Answer: The live-scoring links are now on the right-hand side in a specially customised tab box – with local and South African kick-off times. All the upcoming live matches will be available on the day of the match – we will continue to bring you all big Test matches (including the Rugby Championship, Six Nations, 'friendlies'), Super Rugby and selected Currie Cup, Premiership and Heineken Cup games. (Scroll through the pictures above for the exact placings of the right-hand fixtures/results/live scoring box.)
(5) There aren't enough headlines above the fold:
Answer: We have increased the headlines next to the top three scrolling pictures from five to seven – meaning more hot news will be available as you log onto the website.
(6) What about a new-look rugby365 newsletter to compliment the new website?
Answer: From now on, we will deliver the rugby365 newsletter once a week only – guaranteed to arrive in your inbox on Thursday lunch-time (SA time). All original subscribers will be moved over to the new system and if you are not happy, you can simply unsubscribe from next week onwards, when the brand-new newsletter arrives.
Other improvements we have made since last week:
– We have changed the format of our Twitter box and have incorporated tweets from the world's best players like Bryan Habana, James O'Connor, Cory Jane, etc., whilst also bringing you the views of the rugby365 editorial team – all of whom have a Twitter presence.
– We have also added in some headlines/stories below 'the fold' – meaning we have over 20 front-page headlines.
What lies ahead on rugby365.com:
– We understand that some people are having issues with certain mobile devices. The website works perfectly on iPhones and iPads, but our developers are looking into the rest.
– We have, in our vision, the production of a proper mobile site.
– The right-hand side fixtures/results/live scoring box will also be upgraded – allowing readers to scroll down the list of fixtures, meaning we will carry fixtures for seven days ahead, along with a full list of live matches we will be covering.
Don't forget to check out:
– We will update our Lookalikes section everyday on the front page – but would appreciate any suggestions and ideas on new lookalikes moving forward. Any reader who gives us a workable suggestion will have his or her name published beneath the lookalike.
– On the Edge is a quirky new section which will also be update as often as possible – with bits and bobs; from gossip, to funny stories, to stats pieces… to anything out there that we believe will entertain you. (Again, we would encourage readers to join in here!)
– We will update the video and/or picture of the day (at the bottom left of the website) on a daily basis – bringing you bits of rugby brilliance or some controversial moments from the days or weeks that have passed.
Thanks again for your feedback and patience over the past seven days, and here's to a great reading experience on the new-look rugby365.com!
Cheers,
The rugby365 team
