Rhodes to answer for facial stomp

Western Province flank Michael Rhodes will appear before a South African Rugby Union judicial committee on Tuesday, September 17, in Cape Town.

This comes in the wake of the red card he received in his team's 29-18 Currie Cup win over the Blue Bulls at Loftus Versfeld at the weekend.

Rhodes received a red card in the 35th minute of the match for contravening Law 10.4 (b) – tramping on Blue Bulls captain and No.8 Jono Ross, in the face.

Peter Ingwersen has been appointed as the judicial officer.

* Meanwhile Leopards flank Robert Kruger will also appear before a SARU disciplinary committee, via teleconference, on Tuesday.

He receiving a red card in the 11th minute of his team's First Division clash against the Griffons in Potchefstroom last Friday.

The Leopards were made to work hard for their 40-33 victory.

The player was ruled to have breached Law 10.4 (a), which states that a player may not punch or strike an opponent.

Louis Booyse has been appointed as the judicial officer.
