Giteau goes East?
The French domestic season ends for the Top 14 with a final on 4 June 2017. Giteau could still be wanted by Toulon till then even though their current form suggests that it is an unlikely expectation and that their season could end with the league matches in 6 May when Toulon play Pau.
Boudjellal, asked about Giteau's plans, said: He asked me for a release [from his contract] and unless the situation changes, Giteau will go to Japan."
Giteau's contract ends this season, his sixth since joining the club and would need a third renewal if he is to continue playing for the Red and Black.
Boudjellal has been increasingly angry at Toulon's performance this year and gives the impression of parting less lavishly with his money, meaning that Giteau, now 34, would well not get a new contract.
On the other hand Giteau's career at Toulon has been paved with success – three European Champions Cup wins (2013, 2014 and 2015) and a Top 14 championship in 2014.
