South Africa won the match 29-20 to make it back-to-back wins on their November tour after they beat Scotland 32-15 in Edinburgh a week earlier.

The Springboks were forced into an early substitution in the 32nd minute when Gerhard Steenekamp came on for Nche, who was in some discomfort leaving the field.

“It’s a cut above the knee, so it’s not the knee itself which is positive,” Erasmus told @rugby365com after the game.

“I am not a medical doctor and all it depends on the stitches.”

Erasmus added: “The knee is not injured and hopefully we can pick him again.

“However, we won’t risk him if it is going to go open again.

“So, it’s not a knee it’s a cut.”

The Springboks will end their November series with a match against Wales in Cardiff next weekend.
