Sharks' Bok prop decides his future
NEWS: The Sharks have announced two more re-signings with the news that burly prop Ntuthuko Mchunu and wing Marnus Potgieter will stay in Durban.
Mchunu, who will be in Durban until the end of the 2025 season, is a powerhouse for the Sharks and has been tipped to be the next ‘Beast’ for obvious reasons.
His spectacular solo try thanks to a 50m-dash a season ago against the Lions in Johannesburg elevated him to up-and-coming status.
Mchunu represented the Sharks as a schoolboy, and his development up the ranks was a natural and swift progression, with him making his Super Rugby debut in 2019.
He made his Springbok debut during the three-Test series against Wales last year.

Similarly, Potgieter, who has also signed a two-year contract extension, has showcased his speed and powerful runs at wing, although he is also quite handy at outside centre, where his career began at the Bulls after matriculating at Afrikaans Hoër Seunskool.
Potgieter was originally named in the Bulls squad for the Super Rugby Unlocked competition two years ago but has since found his home with the Sharks where he already impressed with his speedy sorties along the tramlines.
Over the weekend, it was announced that loose forwards Phendulani Buthelezi and James Venter have signed on the dotted line.
Buthelezi’s new deal will see him stay in Durban until 2026. Venter, meanwhile, has signed for another two seasons until 2025.
Last week it was revealed that flyhalf Curwin Bosch extended his stay until 2026.
