S14 - Week 11, Part 2
Stats
Here we give stats concerning getting possession, mainly at scrums and line-outs.
Congratulations to the Cheetahs who played away and were penalised only once in the whole match, and that after 72 minutes!
There was just one yellow card this weekend – for Gareth Hardy for being naughty at a tackle. There were no citings though how Keven Mealamu was not cited must surely be a mystery.
The match between the Chiefs and the Cheetahs had just 67 stoppages, the fewest of any match in this year's Super 14.
The total of penalties, free kicks, line-outs, scrums, including resets, and drop-outs makes up stoppages.
In this section we have had help from Soundsure with its excellent statistics geared to reportage on the refereeing of the matches has made our statistics easier to gather and more comprehensive. Soundsure provides far more stats than appear here.

Next we shall discuss laws related to incidents in the matches.
There is frequent talk about the difference in application between northern and southern hemisphere referees. Most of it is tommyrot but there was this weekend a clear difference if you looked at the playing of advantage by the two referees in the Heineken Cup finals, and the way advantage is applied in the south.
The northern referees, both excellent referees, were much quicker to call Advantage over. If the player who had the chance to play advantage had the chance to make a decision about how he was going to play, they called Advantage over.
We shall talk about it more under a discussion of incidents but it may just be relevant to look at the stats of advantage allowed and successfully obtained in these stats.
