S14 - Week 7 - Stats
We look at some match statistics as the half-way mark in the 2007 Super 14 is passed, while the weather is hot and cricket is being played.
We shall discuss some interesting incidents later but here we shall give some statistics around possession.
Soundsure have been a huge help with much of the statistics, as they always are.
“Stoppages” is the total of penalties, free kicks, line-outs, scrums and their infernal resets, and drop-outs.
The Stormers are now the most penalised side, the Waratahs the ;least penalised.
Feel for the Sharks. After conceding fewer than 9 penalties per match, they suddenly conceded 20 on Saturday.
Sanctionary Cards
There were six yellow cards for five people. Peter Hynes got two in the one match which upped the colour to red. The first was for a deliberate knock-on close to his line, the second for a dangerous tackle. Tana Umaga also got a yellow card – a funny and not convincing one and in the same match young prop Beast Mtawarira, the first Shark this year to go to the sin bin. Jacques Cronje got one for illegalities at a maul near his line.
Hynes appeared before a disciplinary committee who found no further action necessary – not even for the dangerous tackle.
