Statistics - RWC, Day 14

There were two matches on this day – two on one-sided matches in which Australia beat Fiji 55-12 and New Zealand beat Scotland 40-0.

Apparently both Fiji and Scotland fielded weakened sides in preparation for crunch matches ahead, against Wales for Fiji and against Italy for Scotland.

Scotland are the third team to fail to score at this year’s World Cup.

There was some silly colour arrangement for the New Zealand-Scotland match. Both sides had jerseys of big patches – New Zealand’s in black and grey, Scotland in navy blue and white. Both sides had dark shorts. It may have been fashionable but it was also confusing.

The day will soon be with us when rugby will advertise a match as being between full-strength sides – or at least unweakened sides.

We also give some Rugby World Cup stats accumulatively.
