Statistics: Tri-Nations, Week 8

South Africa played Australia in Johannesburg and won 53-8, a shock result in view of what had happened before – three successive defeats for South Africa and two successive wins over South Africa for Australia.

There was no discussion about the refereeing but then there was none of that difficult stuff of a penalty for some offences and a free kick for others that has caused upset in some matches.

The last two matches involving Australia were much better – 34 scrums, 10 resets, 11 collapses. This has been a great improvement in scrums involving Australia.
