European refs for Rounds 1 & 2
The European Cup has announced the referees for the first two rounds of the Heineken Cup and the Amlin Challenge Cup which is the new name for European Challenge Cup.
Carlo Damasco will have the honour of getting the new European club season underway when the Italian referee takes charge of the televised Thursday night Amlin Challenge Cup Round 1 match between Worcester Warriors and Montpellier at Sixways on 8 October.
Alain Rolland will reach a milestone when he referees his 50th Heineken Cup match, just the second referee to do so. His compatriot Alan Lewis was the first.
