Free State act against nasties

The Free State Rugby Union held an inquiry into an incident of aggression towards match officials involving three players. The players have received long suspensions.

The incident occurred on 22 May 2010 in a club match between Warriors and Mangaung clubs.

Two players, Rico Snel and Phil Jansen were found guilty of verbal violence towards the match officials, while Sylvester Jansen pleaded guilty to the charge of physical and verbal violence against the match officials.

Free State’s disciplinary committee heard the case and suspended Snel and Jansen with immediate effect for a period of 12 months.

Sylvester Jansen was suspended with immediate effect for a period of three years.

The players are suspended from all participation in matches and administration and from acting as club officials.
