NZ add to referees' managers

The present two are former Test referees Colin Hawke and Bryce Lawrence. Now they will be joined by former Test referee Paul Honiss and by Matt Peters.

54-year-old Honiss had a great refereeing career. He passed Derek Bevan's record of Test caps and when he retired after 12 years of Test refereeing he had 46 caps, still a New Zealand record, and had refereed at three World Cups. In recent years, he has been the coach of the women's national panel.

Honiss will now be coaching New Zealand’s high performance and national referee squads.

Matt Peters, a former referee and then a referees education officer in Taranaki and Manawatu, becomes New Zealand's national referee development, overseeing talent identification, development programmes and Sevens refereeing.
