Owens gets Magners League Final
Nigel Owens of Wales has been appointed to referee the Magners League Final between Munster and Leinster at Thomond Park on Sunday afternoon.
Owens, a Welsh-speaking West Walian with a great singing voice, turns 38 next month.
He is a referee of great experience.
He has refereed 27 Tests, was at the 2007 World Cup and is one of ten referees appointed to the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand. He refereed consecutive Heineken Cup Finals – Munster vs Toulouse at the Millennium Stadium in 2008 and Leicester Tigers vs Leinster at Murrayfield in 2009.
Recently he refereed the Magners League semifinal between Munster and the Ospreys.
Recently the Treochy rugby club presented Owens with an engraved, silver whistle which he has promised to use at the World Cup.
