Peyper breaks through
The referees have been appointed to the 2013 Six Nations matches. The only new referee in this ancient competition is Jaco Peyper of South Africa.
Peyper refereed his first Tests this year and then in that year refereed eight Tests and the Currie Cup Final.
The referees are all from the IRB's Merit Panel of nine referees. There are two each from France, Ireland and South Africa and one each from England, Wales and Australia. Six are from the North, three from the South. There is no referee from Scotland or Italy.
France, Ireland and South Africa are each appointed to three matches. Craig Joubert, Romain Poite, George Clancy, Wayne Barnes, Steve Walsh and Nigel Owens have each been appoiinted to two matches.,
Each weekend, bar the last, there will be two matches on the Saturday and one on the Sunday. On the last weekend the matches will be simultaneous to avoid clever tactics.
