Peyper to referee JWC Final
Jaco Peyper of Bloemfontein will referee the Final of the 2011 Junior World Championships when England and New Zealand meet at the Stadio Plebiscito in Padua on Sunday.
Peyper, a lawyer by profession, refereed at the 2010 Junior World Championship in Argentina and has been refereeing Super Rugby since 2008 and is clearly one of South Africa’s most promising referees. This year he was the youngest of all Super Rugby referees.
André Watson, South Africa’s refereeing boss said: “We’re very proud of Jaco and it’s great to see him rewarded not only for his superb performances at the Junior World Champs, but also in Super Rugby this year.
“It is great to see that our young referees are starting to come through the ranks and I think it’s safe to say we have a bright future in this regard.”
In the semifinals at this year’s championship Peyper was the touch judge.
Jaco Peyper was born in Bloemfontein on 13 May 1980. He went to school in Bloemfontein at the great Grey College where he was a scrumhalf and played the occasional game for the First XV. He went to university in Bloemfontein, was married to Zenobia in Bloemfontein, works in Bloemfontein and lives in Bloemfontein. As a breakout he met his Free State wife in Jeffrey’s Bay.
At the end of this final round there will be a ranking of the teams. The bottom team will be relegated and replaced by Samoa.
