It's a quiet time at present – the quiet before storms break out with Tests all over the world and then the World Cup.
But in France there is a the massive, passionate final of the Top 14, a local storm, the climax of the club season in France and played at Stade de France. It is always a grand occasion. The man appointed to referee this grand occasion is Pascal Gauzère. It is his first appointment in a series of referees going back to the famous Baron de Coubertin in 1892. Gauzère, who is 38, became a Test referee in 2010.
Then, Super Rugby steams ahead with its last league round and the qualifiers for play-offs all decided.
Then there are two competitions, one in Romania and one in neighbouring Georgia, which give chances for less fortunate countries to play their full sides and prepare for the World Cup.
