England play New Zealand at Twickenham, the big match of the weekend, and for the third time in three matches this month they have a South African referee.
Stuart Berry was the referee when the All Blacks played Japan, Jaco Peyper when they played France and now Craig Joubert. In fact this will be the fourth time Joubert will have refereed an All Blacks match. The match with France on Saturday last was the thirds time Jaco Peyper has refereed them. The England match will be the fourth All Blacks match in succession refereed by South Africans, for Joubert also refereed the third Bledisloe Cup last month.
Jonathan Kaplan will be refereeing his 70th – and probably last – Test on Saturday.
Domestic rugby certainly takes a back seat – existing only in the Scotland's premiership and the second leagues of England and Spain it seems.
