Referees to 24 July 2016
Super Rugby knock-outs begin. This is an exciting time as the competition heads to an end.
There are eight teams this coming weekend, then four the weekend after it and two the weekend after that with just one team left standing – the champions for 2016.
The eight this weekend are four New Zealand teams, three South African teams and an Australian team – Hurricanes, Chiefs, Crusaders and Highlanders, Lions, Stormers and Sharks, and the Brumbies. The complications of the system no longer matter; what matters are this weekend´s four matches, their players and their match officials.
Angus Gardner will start the quarterfinals in Canberra on Friday.
Interestingly, there is no allowance made for trying to make the referees unattached, which says a great deal for the trust that SANZAAR has in its referees.
Lesego Legoete, whom everybody calls Pro, is off to Harare for his sixth Test as referee.
