WP: The refs are back!

Club matches will go ahead this week with referees provided by the Western Province Referees’ Society.

This comes after the referees’ withdrawal of services meant no club rugby in the Western Province last week.

There were two big meeting. On Monday the unions executive and officials met with 82 clubs who each brought two representatives to the meeting with the president of the Union, Zelt Marais, in the chair.

On Tuesday, the referees executive met with their members with chairman Joey Klaaste-Salmans in the chair.

After the meeting the appointments for Wednesday evening and the weekend were sent out.

Both clubs and referees are relieved to be back to normal – or really better than normal.
