O'Brien meets the managers

Paddy O’Brien, the International Rugby Board’s manager of referees, will meet with the managers of the 20 teams participating in the World Cup in Paris on Tuesday.

In the past, the teams would meet the referee before each individual match, usually on the day before the match.

This Tuesday meeting will replace that custom. The meetings were usually perfunctory but gave each team a chance to tell the referee what the other side did wrong!

On Tuesday the discussion will be about the laws and their application and any other refereeing matters which may arise.
