The Cheetahs confirmed to @rugby365com that Springbok duo Frans Steyn and Oupa Mohoje have been withdrawn from the 28-man touring squad.

The Cheetahs are scheduled to leave Bloemfontein on Sunday to travel to Wales for their Round Three match against Scarlets on Friday, January 13 in Llanelli.

Their next match will be against Pau in Parma, Italy on Sunday, January 22.

However, the bad news is that Steyn, who was set to face the Scarlets, has reinjured his hamstring during training.

Fellow Springbok and loose forwards Mohoje also suffered a hamstring injury.

Mohoje was included in the squad despite being suspended until January 16.

Cohen Jasper and Roelof Smit have been added to the travelling squad.

Meanwhile, Cheetahs face a nervy wait on Ruan Pienaar.

The franchise told @rugby365com, the 38-year-old will be assessed on Saturday following a knee niggle.

Should the veteran be ruled out of the tour, his place will be filed by Branden de Kock.
