Racing 92 are currently looking for a new head coach to replace the outgoing Laurent Travers. Travers is set to take over the role of club presidency from owner Jacky Lorenzetti.

The Ile-de-France club have already announced the arrival this year of Rory Teague, who will replace attack coach Mike Prendergast who is retiring to Munster after a decade in French rugby. Forward coach Dimitri Szarzewski has also had his contract extended to 2025.

Now Midi Olympique reports that Jones is indeed interested in the role and has had discussions with Racing 92 over taking the reins at the Parisian side. The paper however reports that the discussions did not conclude in an agreement of any kind and that ‘nothing is less certain’ with regards to who will take over.

Jones is set to leave his role as England head coach after the 2023 Rugby World Cup, so he wouldn’t be available for next season.

When he does leave, he won’t lack for suiters.

Racing might have to fight off Rugby Australia for Jones’ signature. Double World Cup winner Phil Kearns is on record saying he believes that Jones would be the perfect fit to nourish the next wave of future Wallabies in Australia.
