Team of the Week: Readers' votes are in

OPINION: The votes are in. You, the readers, have spoken and here is your Team of the Week – after the third week of Currie Cup action.

It was a surprisingly dominant performance by the Lions, who managed to get eight players into the starting XV.

They were followed by the Sharks (four), Bulls (two) and Western Province (one).

The Stars of the Week were two veterans – The Lions’ 36-year-old utility forward Willem Alberts (who got 61 percent of the vote as a lock) and the Bulls’ 34-year-old captain Duane Vermeulen ( who got 60 percent of the vote at No.8).

The closets vote was for openside flank – Marco van Staden (Bulls – 34 percent) edging out Dylan Richardson (Sharks – 30.3 percent).

At tighthead prop Jannie du Plessis (Lions – 38.4 percent) also had a close shave against (Bulls – 34.1).
