Immense pressure on Boks, Wallabies coaches

Steve Robinson worked alongside Eugene Eloff at the Austin Huns in the United States of America before returning to his homeland to continue his coaching journey. He took time out to chat to us about his thoughts on the match from 21:09.

Robinson did not shy away from voicing his concern about the regression of Australian rugby post their 1999 World Cup triumph, and subsequent hosting of the 2003 World Cup. He feels not enough was done after the massive gains the country made following those events and have fallen behind the likes of Rugby League and Aussie Rules Football.

He went on to speak about the pressure Michael Cheika may be under after not being to wrestle the Bledisloe Cup away from the All Blacks at 29:30.

In the lead up to that, Howie Kahn, Anton van Zyl and Morgan Newman take a hard look at the Springbok touring squad and share some differing opinions on the surprise inclusion of Cheslin Kolbe at 12:04.

The show jumps straight into speaking about the talk of the Currie Cup, the Golden Lions’ Hacjivah Dayimani. The 20-year-old has been a standout thus far in the shortened version of the competition and the trio may have an interesting suggestion about what could elevate the young man to the international stage.

The trio touch on the start of the PRO14 and the Premiership from 07:25, paying special attention to the return of Marcell Coetzee. The Springbok loose forward, who has been plagued by injury in recent times, made a successful return to the playing field for Ulster in their 15-13 victory over Scarlets.

With news that SARU President Mark Alexander is looking to introduce a further two franchises to the PRO14 competition, while also alluding to a suggestion of reducing the number of professional players in the country.

The team gets stuck into that at 31:34 and all come up with interesting ideas as to how that will work and what could potentially be the best option.
