Player ratings: Blunt claws

Their performance was shocking to say the least and if this was an advert for the game, there would be absolutely no interest. Questions were raised when they made nine changes to their starting line-up and it negatively affected their performance as they failed to spark.

The argument to completely drop this fixture from the future World Cups has definitely been bolstered.

Tauriq Ebrahim rates the Argentinian players!

Player ratings: Blunt claws15 Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino

Popped his head up on the odd occasion and although he tried to spark something, nothing worked on the day.

3/10

14 Santiago Cordero

Caused plenty of headaches when he ran the ball and justified all the hype surrounding him.

7/10

13 Matias Moroni

Refused to go down without a fight and got the crowd going on a few occasions.

4/10

12 Jeronimo de la Fuente

A steady all-round performance that was a far cry from what was expected.

4/10

Player ratings: Blunt claws11 Horacio Agulla

Showed plenty of determination and skill to break the line and slip tackles each time he got the ball.

5/10

10 Nicolas Sanchez (captain)

Attempted to get things going but was not able to, while he seemed out of his depth with the captaincy.

4/10

9 Tomas Cubelli

His early yellow card cost his side 10 points but brought back the attacking spark that was lacking.

3/10

8 Juan Manuel Leguizamon

Played second fiddle to his opposite number but offered plenty of hard work on attack.

7 Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe

Capped off a stellar career with a massive defensive effort and plenty of hard work at the breakdowns.

5/10

Player ratings: Blunt claws6 Javier Ortega Desio

Strong defensive work and pretty average in the other facets.

3/10

5 Tomas Lavanini

His usual grunt managed to show itself in brief spirits.

3/10

4 Matías Alemanno

A steady performance but nothing to write home about.

4/10

3 Ramiro Herrera

Forced into a defensive role and stood up to that challenge admirably.

4/10

2 Julian Montoya

Did his job as best as he could, given the stop-start and scrappy nature of the match.

4/10

1 Juan Figallo

Had absolutely no grunt in his performance.

3/10

Replacements:

Player ratings: Blunt claws16 Lucas Noguera (blood replacement for Figallo, 15 mins and 61 mins)

Did not do much, despite having to stints on the field.

3/10

17 Juan Pablo Orlandi (on for Herrera, 55 mins)

When your amount of runs is greater than the metres you make, your performance was not up to international standards.

2/10

18 Santiago Garcia Botta (on for Montoya, 77 mins)

Not enough time to be rated, although he grabbed an unlikely late try.

19 Guido Petti (on for Alemanno, 47 mins)

Some strong carries and a fairly good run on the park.

4/10

20 Facundo Isa (on for Fernandez Lobbe, 52 mins)

Made an immediate impact off the bench despite having massive boots to fill.

5/10

21 Martin Landajo (on for Cubelli, 52 mins)

Brought something different in the closing minutes and was a catalyst in getting his team over the try line.

5/10

22 Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias (on for de la Fuente, 70 mins)

Not enough time to be rated.

23 Juan Pablo Socino (on for Agulla, 58 mins)
