Bet.co.za betting challenge - Round 3
Find out from rugby365.com’s Howie Kahn as the Bet.co.za Super Rugby challenge heads into Round Three.
As I explained last week, five of us will all be given R1,000 a month by the kind folk of Bet.co.za (www.bet.co.za) over the next few weeks, and we are free to use it as we please on Super Rugby bets – all in a bid to see who can come out with the most cash at the end of the tournament.
This how things stand at present (after two weeks):
Howie Kahn (@howiekahn) – up R406.25
SportBilly (@sportbillysays) – up R157.33
Schalk Jonker (@SI_Schalk) – up R39.50
TheBounce (@followthebounce) – down R268.72
Gareth Rosslee (@GarethRosslee) – down R695
My bets for this weekend, Round Three of the 2012 Super Rugby:
(Note: I’ve gone for a lot of little, cheeky ones… a round of experimentation!)
March 9
Crusaders v Chiefs (Napier)
Call me crazy… but I am going with a Crusaders win – by 6-10 points (R20). Other bets: First try-scorers – Corey Flynn (R10 – could win me R280); Liam Messam (R10 – could win me R200) – some of my cheeky little wagers of Round Three.
Force v Hurricanes (Perth)
I like the odds of a Hurricanes win and I think they have returned from South Africa a better side – plus the Force have beaten the ‘Canes just once in six starts. ‘Canes by 11-15 points (R20 – which could win me R280). Other bets: None.
March 10
Brumbies v Cheetahs (Canberra)
I have a feeling the Cheetahs can come good – their forwards should be superior and then, hopefully, young Goosen will take over and dominate (R20 – 1-6 points). Other bets: I’m putting a cheeky little R10 on WP Nel to the game’s first try-scorer – it could net me R500. (Money well spent I reckon!)
Highlanders v Waratahs (Dunedin)
The Waratahs’ record in Dunedin is VERY good… but I don’t think this ‘Tahs side is the best to emerge from Sydney in recent years. Highlanders to win by 6-10 points (R20). Other bets: None.
Reds v Rebels (Brisbane)
I just cannot see the Rebels causing a shock here against the champions – especially not in Brisbane. Reds to win by 16-20 points – R25. Other bets: First try-scorer – Jake Schatz (R15).
Sharks v Lions (Durban)
Sharks to win by 11-15 points – R25 – to me the Sharks are sure winners – the margin is the big challenge. Other bets: None.
Bulls v Blues (Pretoria)
On average since 1999, the Bulls have beaten the Blues by 36-28 at Loftus. The Blues won’t be pushovers… but I cannot see them winning in Pretoria. No bet as yet! Other bets: None.
Cheers,
Howie Kahn
