Coetzer's Final dash for glory
There we have it, the Super 14 is over and we have a ‘new’ champion – as the Crusaders reclaimed the title from the Bulls. We also have a new champion in our ‘readers versus staff’ prediction game – but we knew that last week already.
There was, however, one last bit of drama, as Phil Coetzer sprinted past Rudolf Mehl in the Final dash for the line to claim second place – saving some face for our resident ‘experts’ at rugby365 and iafrica.
Coetzer has his moment of glory courtesy of getting the margin of victory for the Crusaders inside the five-point mark – he said Crusaders by six and they won by eight. Mehl said Crusaders by 14, leaving him one point outside the five-point margin and one point short of second place.
For the rest there was nothing but pride left and even then some of us got it horribly wrong again, I mean who goes and backs the Waratahs in Christchurch?
