Mehl on the move
Johan Greyling remains firm favourite to win the ‘readers versus staff’ prediction game, after a weekend of surprises, but it is the race for second place that took a dramatic turn.
Last week Phil Coetzer and Steve Farrell looked comfortable in second place, but Rudolf Mehl upset the apple cart with his nine-point haul – the highest for the weekend – and have slipped into a joint second place.
Coetzer, who has had some good weeks recently, remain second – 12 behind leader Johan Greyling – with Mehl joining him on 74 points.
Farrell, who had a big wobble on Saturday after an impressive start on Friday, slipped into fourth place one point further back.
Defending champion John Granger had another nightmare weekend – the week’s lowest score of five – and slipped further behind the chasing pack. He is now in danger of being caught by Rob Peters and Hennie van Staden.
Jan de Koning still looks very (un)comfortable in last place.
