Player Ratings: Good enough for silver

The win means that Australia ends second on the Rugby Championship table, while South Africa's narrow 24-25 defeat to the All Blacks secured them third place.

The Wallabies' first-half performance made sure their a 20-13 at the break, while most of the damage was done in the second half.

Robert Seltzer rates the Australian Players!

1 Scott Sio
Lost the battle in the scrum. Has been more prominent in the loose didn’t shy away from work, but has been a lot better.

2 Tatafu Polota Nau
Played very well. Covered well in defence and made some incisive runs in attack. Lineout was flawless as well, will be very happy with his nights work.

3 Sekopu Kepu
Same as Sio with regards to the scrum. Was a willing runner in the loose but handling at times let him down

4 Izack Rodda
Decent game from the youngster. Big target in the lineout and happy to receive the ball. Won a turnover as well. Early on in his International career, it will be a long one.

5 Adam Coleman
A good effort putting in an 80-minute shift. Solid at the lineout and did well to spoil a few Argentinian driving mauls coming through the middle. Looked for work with the ball in hand. Is improving with each performance

6 Jack Dempsey
Australia’s best on the day. Broke the gain line every time he got the ball. First try was due to his initial line break. Ran great lines and outshone McMahon.

7 Michael Hooper
A big defensive display from the captain. Did the dirty stuff well. Left Dempsey and McMahon to make the meters and hit anything that came near him. A very mature performance

8 Sean McMahon
Did well to last the 65 mins. Was outshone by Dempsey with ball in hand. Argentina defended against his power running very well.

9 Will Genia
Superb delivery from the breakdown. Great vision for Hodge’s try and great support line for Hodge to return the favour. One downside is he could have offered more threat with the ball, didn’t challenge the Argentinian defensive line enough.

10 Bernard Foley
Took his try well, but was poor from the tee. Australia should have been out of sight earlier.

11 Reece Hodge
Played very well. Came off his wing giving an option for Genia/Foley. Took his try well and ran a superb line to set up Genia’s try. Nearly had two others but for a forward pass and Kerevi tiptoeing on the touchline.

12 Kurtley Beale
Not as dominant a showing as he has had since returning from the UK. Constantly in the first receiver role trying to create something, decision making let him down at times though. Hodge was used to cover for him in the 12 channel, his covered well at the back but should not be given the out.

13 Tevita Kuridrani
Didn’t do anything really. Didn’t get much ball. 13 Jumper is still very much up for grabs. No one has put a stamp on it.

14 Marika Koroibete

Superb finish for his try and always looked dangerous on the ball. Over committed for Inglesias try otherwise good defensively. Would like to see him busier

15 Israel Folau
Made most run meters during the game but was shackled well, didn’t really get going

16 Ala Ala’atoa (on for Kepu, 53rd min)
Continued the solid work at the scrum.

17 Rob Simmons (on for Rodda, 55th min)
Not much on an impact

18 Stephen Moore (on for Polota-Nau, 65th min)
Secured his own lineout and linked well in open play a couple of times.

19 Tetra Faulkner (on for Sio, 65th min)
Secured his own lineout and linked well in open play a couple of times.

20 Lukhan Tui (on for McMahon, 65th)
Ran powerfully with ball in hand and made a couple of good tackles

21 Samu Kerevi (on for Beale,65th min)
No impact

22 Nick Phipps (on for Genia, 74th min)
Not enough time on the pitch to do much
