The Lions, who dominated the South African landscape for three years, failed to make the play-offs this year. From losing just one match against SA opposition (in 2016, 2017 & 2018), they won just once against the same opposition this year.

Having lost a host of senior players in the last two years, De Bruin spoke about the new, young players that have been brought through in 2019 and gives his verdict on the season.
