VIDEO: When South Africans go head-to-head in the MLR
WATCH as South African players leave their mark on a game in the United States Major League Rugby.
The New Orleans Nola scored their first win of the season with a 25-24 win over the Seattle Seawolves – with Pietermaritzburg-born utility back Carl Meyer kicking six penalties and a conversion for Nola.
Seawolves captain Riekert Hattingh, son of 1990s Springbok Drikus Hattingh, scored one of his team’s tries in typical rampaging form.
However, it was the unerring boot of fellow South African Meyer that sealed the win.
Other South Africans that featured in the match include Mzamo Majola (formerly Sharks), Rhyno Herbst (Lions), Juan-Philip Smith (Bulls, Cheetahs, Kings), Dan Kriel (Bulls, Stormers, Lions), Duncan Matthews (Bulls, Lions) and Phillipus du Plessis (Stormers, Cheetahs, Kings).
