Another victory for Kirkwood

This past weekend Kirkwood High played PJ Olivier at Kirkwood’s fields and won 24-13.

The match started of quite well for Kirkwood, who had a hard week’s training behind them.

As in the previous matches, Kirkwood’s forwards were much smaller than their opposition, but again they managed to hold of PJ Olivier’s big pack. I know tries don’t come as often for props, but to score two charge-down tries was something to see. Jacques Ehlers (the tighthead who is turning 16) had an awesome running game. The backline was, as usual, brilliant.

But take nothing away from PJ Olivier – they really gave it their best up front, but couldn’t convert their effort into points.

Tries came from Jacques Ehlers (2), Azola Ntoza (No.8) and another try by Grant Sauls (left wing). Flyhalf, Kenny Jacobs converted two of the four tries. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the scorer of PJ Olivier.

The final score was 24-13 for Kirkwood. So far we have played 7 and won 7. This weekend Kirkwood faces another very good team – Alexander Road, who are on the roll.
