2012 Craven Week fixtures

The 2012 Craven Week starts in Port Elizabeth on Monday, 9 July. The fixtures for the first two days are laid down.

The fixtures for the subsequent days will depend on what happens on each of the first two days. There will be matches on the Wednesday, the Thursday and then Saturday.

The matches will take place at the posh Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in PE.

There are 20 teams, including one from Namibia and one from Zimbabwe, taking part, five matches on each of the first four days. All 20 teams will play on the final day. Traditionally the last match is between the two teams regarded as having played the best rugby.

In the past the SA Schools team was announced after the last match. This year a group of 44 players will be announced as the SA Schools High Performance Group at the completion of the end of the Craven Week and could include players who were not at Craven Week. This group of 44 players will play in trials on 28 July and the group will be reduced to 28 to play in three Test matches.

On the last day of Craven Week a SA Schools Coach and a SA Schools Manager will be named. They will be chosen after interviews during Craven Week of candidates who will have applied for the positions.
