While Blue Bulls manage to edge pass Southern Western District for a hard-fought 14-12 victory.
In a really tough encounter, Free State and Golden Lions shared the spoils in a spectacular match which ended in a 22-22 draw.
In the last two fixtures of the day, Boland suffered a 5-14 shock defeat to Leopards, while the hosts Western Province secured a comfortable 28-19 victory over Pumas.
