Craven Week - final fixtures
Blue Bulls play Golden Lions
Not at all surprisingly, the Blue Bulls and the Golden Lions play the final fixture of the 2006 Craven Week. They have been the outstanding teams.
The last day's matches reflect the standing of the teams at the Craven Week. That means that the Blue Bulls and the Golden Lions will be competing for first place. Last year the Golden Lions won the final match.
Western Province, who have the best record of all teams at Craven Week, have now gone six matches without a win, starting with their defeat by Free State in the main match in 2004. They play the breakfast match against the Valke on the final day.
Last year Eastern Province came second, losing on the final day to the Golden Lions. This year they do not even get to play on the main field on the final day. They in fact play on Mill Park 2, a long way from being winning finalists in 2005. They are, as far as status goes, playing for 15th position, Western Province for 9th.
