Adelaide Gim just win FNB Classic
Match Report
Adelaide Gimnasium just beat Winterberg Agricultural 10-7 in Fort Beaufort on Saturday, an FNB Classic Clash.
It was a tough match on a lovely afternoon – not an attractive match but an exciting one. The afternoon included a performance of aerobatics by Stu Davidson, the South African champion.
The competition, on rugby fields and netball courts, between the two schools was determined and enthusiastic with no shortage of encouragement from parents and pupils/
The heavier Adelaide Gim forwards dominated the first half and led 10-0 at the break. Again and again they attacked the Winterberg goal-line. for the most part Winterberg absorbed the attacks.
In the second half the young – They had only four matrics in their side – Winterberg side came back with renewed spirit. their defence frustrated Adelaide's plans and forced the visitors into errors. They were rewarded when AB Germishuys scored a brilliant try, the only try of the second half. After missing two straightforward penalty kicks at goal in the first half, victory for the home side was not too farfetched a possibility.
