Adelaide win tough FNB Classic
Match report
Adelaide Gymnasium won their FNB Classic Clash when they beat Winterberg Landbou of Fort Beaufort 13-6 in Adelaide on a perfect Saturday afternoon.
There was all the fun of the fair at a packed ground at Adelaide and the match was, as befits such a clash between close rivals, a tough one, producing just two tries, one in each half.
Adelaide got off to a good start when after five minutes scrumhalf Buntu Ntlanzi kicked a penalty goal.
Ten minutes later Winterberg's star flyhalf Aubrey MacDonald, an SA Schools player, levelled the scores with a penalty.
Adelaide scored their first try shortly afterwards when they played the ball wide in a double-backline formation and fullback Lonwabo Ntlama came in between the centres and scored an unconverted try.
On the stroke of half-time, Aubrey MacDonald kicked a second penalty to make the score 8-6 at the break.
The only score of the second half came half-way through the half when Adelaide drove a line-out maul for prop Dwayne Kinghorn to be credited with the try.
