Akhona Myokwana - Zweliyandila Captain

Player Profile

Mtobeli Kweliti, coach of Zweliyandila school near East London, an ardent rugby man, has great praise for his captain Akhona Myokwana as his team prepares to play Ntsonkotha in an FNB Classic Clash in Chalumna on Saturday.

Akhona, his coach says, is a lock brilliant in the line-out and mobile enough to play flank, a good runner with the ball. "He is a 100% player," Mtobeli says.

Akhona, nicknamed Fafa, is keen on his rugby, playing also for the local club, Tigers. Next year, if he matriculates, he hopes to study further at a technikon and to continue playing rugby.

He has not played provincial rugby yet and at 19 is no longer eligible for Craven Week but Mtobeli Kweliti intends to take him to try out for the Border Under-19 side.

Akhona is the only one in his family who plays rugby. There are seven children in the family – four girls and three boys. Akhona's brothers play soccer.

Prospects for the match? Akhona says: "We will win. We have been preparing very hard for this match. We will win."
