All about inches in Malmesbury
There should be very little to separate Schoonspruit Secondary School and Piketburg Hoërskool when they meet in Malmesbury for their FNB Classic Clash this weekend.
Both sides have had successful seasons but the interesting comparison is when you compare the results against teams that both of them have played.
Piketberg have enjoyed an unbeaten season so far – after they lost a preseason friendly to Brakenfell – which has included a dominant 62-0 win over Hopefield as well as a thumping 71-5 victory over Vredendal recently. They have had very few one game this season against Swartland where they snuck past them 22-21. Swartland is the one side that Piketberg and Schoonspruit have in common and the other is Wesbank – Piketburg beat them comfortably 38-3.
Schoonspruit have not been so lucky to go unbeaten this year although they have only lost one game and that was against what one can only assume was a stronger Tygerberg side, whom they lost 45-15 to. Then against Wesbank, Schoonspruit ran riot and won the comfortably 48-0. Then in the other fixture that these two sides have in common, Schoonspruit also managed to slip past Swartland 24-22.
Having a look at those two results only one can see that this is going to be an entertaining game and there really does not seem to be much that seperates these two sides.
Over the past six years Schoonbspruit have won the fixture four times – including last year where they won 16-3. This means that Piketberg need to turn the results around in order to get back within touching distance of their rivals.
