All the Academy week results
Griffons manage to score seven tries of their own, but a converted try by Sharks fullback Conan le Fleur on the brink of fulltime ensured that the hosts kicked their campaign off with a good start.
In the other matches the day Golden Lions and Border cruised to victories against Pumas and Griquas CD respectively.
Meanwhile in a tightly contested match Griffons CD scored four tries to edge Eastern Province 19-15.
While in the opening match of the day, the Blue Falcons suffered an 8-15 defeat to SA LSEN.
In the closing match of the day, Western Province ran rampant as they scored seven unanswered tries against a deflated SWD side to secure a 47-0 win.
