*In the North West battle, Lichtenburg used their home ground advantage to great effect as they claimed a 20-10 victory over Klerksdorp, in front of a packed Fanus Booysen pavilion.

*In Cape Town's Northern Suburbs, Bellville South continued their unbeaten run in their 33-10 win over Kasselsvlei.

Randburg 0-36 Linden

The hosts failed to add any points to the scoreboard as they were defeated by Hoërskool Linden.

Linden's fullback Wian de Lange played a pivotal role in his team victory, while Zarco Killian along with Andrew Murray took control of the scrums and line-outs as they dominated the match.

Within the first 24 minutes, Linden scored the first try through right wing Tyron Erasmus. Just before the first half ended Linden extended their lead through a try by the No.8 Dwayne Vorster. The first half was a tightly contested match, with exciting running rugby that entertained the crowd.

The visitors led 10-0 at the break.

Randburg tried to produce something for the home crowd, but Linden’s attack was just too strong, as they managed to add an additional 26 points to their score.

Early in the second half, Linden scored again with their third try by Tommy van Staden, and the added the extras through the boot of Devaux Bakkes. Now the flood gates were opened, and Linden scored a flurry of tries by John-Ro Rothner, Divan Steenkamp and Devaux Bakkes.

Despite Randburg's failure to add any points to the score, inside center Ryno du Toit was one of the players that really stood out for the losing team.

The final score saw Linden ran to a 36-0 comfortable victory.

Dr Malan 16-15 Driehoek

It was a really intense battle with no points registered in the first 20 minutes of the match. The visitors were the first to draw blood through Brandon Eddie's try. Just five minutes later, the home side struck back with a try of their own by Simphiwe Yika.

Pieter Janse van Vuuren stepped up to give the hosts the lead, 7-5.

Just before the break, Janse van Vuuren extended their lead to 10-5 through a penalty, as the hosts enjoyed a slender lead heading into the half-time interval.

The second half started at a faster pace. Yet again, Driehoek was the first team to score through a try by Stephan Botha. With a missed conversion, Driehoek failed to take the lead and the score was dead-locked at 10-all.

Both teams could not afford to make a mistake and ball possession became very important. A couple of missed penalties from both sides just increased the tension.

Janse van Vuuren had another chance at the poles through a penalty. This time he kept his nerve and broke the deadlock, Dr. Malan led 13-10.

The lead again exhanged hands, through a Driehoek try by Chirstopher Viljoen. Despite scoring the most tries of the match, the home side had the last say in the final minutes through a successful Janse van Vuuren penalty.

The final score saw Dr Malan securing a narrow 16-15 win.

Lichtenburg 20-10 Klerksdorp

The game lived up to the hype from the referee's first whistle as both teams battled for dominance. The evenly matched teams went at it in the opening minutes but it was the boot of Mauritz Kotze who broke the deadlock with a well-taken penalty in the 15th minute to hand Lichtenburg a 3-0 lead.

Lichtenburg could not defend their lead for too long as outside centre Anker Pretorius used his pace to score in the corner of the field giving, Klerksdorp a 5-3 advantage going into the half-time break.

Corno Lubbe scored the home teams' first try early in the second half from a very well executed line-out drive. Kotze duly converted the try to regain the lead at 10-5. Five minutes later, Bertru Jones flew over for Lichtenburg's second try but Klerksdorp made sure the celebrations didn't last long as Bernie de Beer scored for Klerksdorp from the kick-off.

With 10 minutes left in the game, and the 15-10 scoreline favouring the home side, it was still anyone's game. With two minutes left, two Lichtenburg replacement forwards made good use of their fresh legs with lock Mauritius Claase breaking though a gap and handing off to No.8 Anthony Keen to go over for the final try of the match.

Bellville South 33-10 Kasselsvlei

In the opening five minutes of the match Kasselsvlei fullback Cullen Petersen's kick was charged down by Keenan Williams, who scored the first try for the hosts. Arendse stepped up to convert, giving the hosts the early lead, 7-0.

The hosts extended their lead through tries by Michael Ontong and Aron Arendse, which led to the score being 19-0 in Belville South’s favour.  

However, the visitors started to build momentum just before half-time. They were soon awarded with a penalty which Petersen had no problem slotting over.

Kasselsvlei pounce again, this time with a converted try by Junior Kolony, narrowing the hosts’ lead to just 9 points at the break.

As soon as the second half started, Kasselsvlei were on the attack. Despite having all the opportunities, Kasselsvlei failed to convert the possession into points after several attempts.

To add to Kasselvlei's dismay, they had to continue the match without captain Kyle Ford, who picked up an injury.

In his absence Bellville South added two additional converted tries by Rosco Davis and Michael Ontong. The final score was 33-10 in favour of Bellville South.
