Another defeat for Bellville Lions

Match Report

The strong Strand side beat the brave Bellville side 12-9 on Saturday.

After losing against a  much weaker team last week Bellville had every opportunity to win against a very strong Strand side .

What a nail-biting contest! The game was in the balance right up to the end. Bellville  missed three penalty goals right in front of the poles, missing five penalty goals altogether .They were also unlucky not to score a try in the last minute of the match when right wing Johan du Plessis foot touched the side line before  crossing the Strand's try-line. This was a match winning opportunity.

What sportsmanship when the Bellville's touch judge  raised his flag metres from the Strand's try-line!

All credit to Strand who used their opportunities to score two brilliant tries. The first try was scored at the end of the first half by their inside centre Jesse Ceasterman which was converted by scrumhalf Clayton Stewart.

Their second try came half way through the second half when Jakobus Theart crossed the Bellville line.

Players worth mentioning again Bellville's big lock Ryan Olivier and Strand's scrumhalf Clayton Steward and inside centre Jakobus Theart.
